I was going through my emails when I got distracted and started cruising different blog sites. I came across a young Irish band called Two Door Cinema Club who toured with Phoenix and just released music on the forward thinking french label Kitsune. The TDCC band members are all in their early 20's and decided to skip college to pursue their musical careers. The result is being one of the hottest acts worldwide with tons of views of their Youtube page of their tracks with additional acoustic versions you should also check out. They have mastered writing catchy hooks and perfect harmonizing with their vocals. They previously were a three piece band, utilizing only a drum machine, but have since added a drummer to the group. I can't wait to catch them live at Webster Hall on October 21st 2010, you can purchase tickets HERE. Be sure to buy the Two Door Cinema Club album, you will not be disappointed.

@MeganitHappen & I were also able to check out a few gallery shows in Chelsea, attend The Sundays Best party in the Willimaburg/Bushwick area of Brooklyn, take a stroll across the Willimaburg Bridge, watch the 1st open air movie at Brooklyn Bridge Park with the Financial District in the background and discovered a pretty nice slate section of our backyard. In doing so we decided to snap a few pics of our adventures in New York this summer and thought we'd share.
More music next post and expect some pictures from two of this summer's best FREE shows:
Sonic Youth @ Prospect Park bandshell - July 31st
Cut Copy @ East River Park - August 8th
On the move again in New York City, this time we picked the hipster stronghold part of Brooklyn named Williamsburg. Living just a 10 minute stroll from the Bedford stop off the L, commuting to and from home you can always catch a struggling artist playing a guitar and signing on the streets or at the subway station just to do it or for donations. All the walls and sidewalks are covered with art, posters for shows or Fools Gold Records and Trouble & Bass stickers. The food options in the area are great! Stop by Oasis right when you get off the L at the Bedford stop for an amazing low cost falafel or head south on Bedford to Grand St., hang a right and keep going till you see the water for a great view of the Manhattan skyline and the Willimasburg bridge.
Keeping with the theme of this post I have some tracks courtesy of NYC Trouble & Bass label along with some pics from another NYC local.

Trouble & Bass has been staying busy also releasing the Heavy Bass Champions of the World Vol. VI, from the Australian Acid Jacks.

The Trouble & Bass crew were kind enough to give away a free track from the EP.

I was also wanted to share some AMAZING pics taken by my good friend Ian from Depressed Billionaires who has been recently working on photography. You may remember a previous post that has drawn a lot of attention to his music project with their Pink Sheets EP that was coincidently put out on the Acid Jacks Idiot house label. Hope you enjoy the music & pictures.

So I have been working on my remix for Yeasayer and should have that done within the next week, but in the meantime I got an email the other day with a LazerProof mixtape(Major Lazer + La Roux) link and wanted to share it with the everyone. I really like the different dancehall approach that Major Lazer went with, and it seems like Diplo has his hands in just about everything right now. Never thought that La Roux vocals would sound so great with this style of music but it fit extremely well. Mad Decent was generous enough to provide us with the track listing to as well. Do yourself a favor & check out all the links for some free music downloads just in time for summer.

Here are some shots of the Brooklyn Bridge to go with my remix. Enjoy & leave any feedback.

So I had the chance to check out the infamous Santos Party House on Lafayette off the Canal stop. Went there to see the new kids on the block rocking the new Miami Dance Sound. I guess the high school kids in the coastal beach of Miami are dancing to much different music than I did at my prom experiences. SonicC has one of the hottest club tracks being played out in clubs and parties all over the world, did I mention he just turned 17 and is already signed to Steve Aoki's DIM MAK label that also has the Canadian Felix Cartal on it? The party was put on by JDH & Dave P. who run the Fixed parties. Very cool guys and great DJ's who always hook NY up with amazing shows. Click this link to add their Facebook group. I snapped 2 pics from my phone & wanted for everyone to hear the remix from Digital Lab who also call Miami home.
The show also had dj sets from Death Face(Trouble & Bass), so Drop The Lime and all the Trouble & Bass crew where on the dance floor. I will be coming back to this venue regularly. Very impressed with the bar tender that was wearing white sweat pants(yes the kind you work out or sleep in), paired with an old Lawrence Taylor Giants football jersey. The venue had a cool article last year in The New York Magazine educating you on the owner Andrew W.K.

Got this in my email today & wanted to share.
I have been listening to Foamo for quit some time now but his two recent remixes for La Roux sound like they have been working together for years. Her unique vocals paired with his driving synth work fit perfect. La Roux caught my attention when she released a single on the Kitsune label. Already in love with Foamo's bootleg of 'In For The Kill(Skream remix)', when I came across the 'Bulletproof' remix and I was equally blown away. I'm sure everyone will hear more of her real soon. She is primed to match the hype that Little Boots had last year. If you find yourself in San Diego, CA July 14th 2010, be sure to catch her along with my friend Deth Hertz at 4th & B. Be sure to check out her cool video's too as well.
